Nexpher News is operated within the Nexpher Group (including Nexpher Images Limited and Nexpher Limited). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit Nexpher News (including nexpher.news and related news properties). For licensing, accounts, and marketplace services on Nexpher Images, also see the Nexpher Images Privacy Policy.

We aim to handle personal data in line with applicable laws that may apply to you, including Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), the EU/UK GDPR where it applies, and relevant United States privacy requirements. This policy is a notice of our practices; it is not legal advice.

1. Information we collect

We collect personal data directly from you and through automated technologies when you use Nexpher News:

  • Contact details you provide (for example when you email corrections, press, or support)
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device and operating system information, language, and approximate location derived from network information
  • Usage data such as pages viewed, referral URLs, and engagement with articles, live blogs, RSS feeds, and category pages
  • Cookies and similar technologies used for essential site operation and, where enabled, first-party analytics

Nexpher News does not require an account to read news. Account creation, authentication, billing, and licensing data are handled on Nexpher Images / Nexpher Limited systems when you use those services.

2. How we use information

  • Operate, secure, and improve the news service
  • Understand readership and content demand (first-party analytics)
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
  • Respond to correction requests and other inquiries
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Share data within the Nexpher Group for operational and editorial infrastructure, as described below

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more lawful bases depending on the activity, which may include legitimate interests (securing and improving the service), consent (non-essential analytics cookies), and legal obligation.

3. Sharing within the Nexpher Group

Personal data may be transferred to and processed by Nexpher Limited and other Nexpher Group entities for hosting, security, analytics, and editorial tooling. Intra-group transfers may cross international borders subject to appropriate safeguards.

4. Sharing with third parties

We may share data with service providers (hosting, email delivery, CDN, analytics infrastructure) acting on our instructions; with authorities when required by law; with professional advisors; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell personal information for money and do not share first-party analytics with third-party advertising networks for cross-context behavioural advertising.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies that may include essential/strictly necessary cookies, functionality preferences, and first-party product analytics (pseudonymous usage events on infrastructure we control). You can control cookies through your browser settings. Additional cookie controls for the Images marketplace may appear on nexpherimages.com.

6. Retention and security

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described or as required by law. We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the risk. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise applicable rights. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority where available.

8. Children

Nexpher News is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date.
